  1. What is the Vehicle Recycling Assistance Program?

Answer:  The Vehicle Recycling Assistance Program is a program that assist you getting proper documentation and/or title for your vehicle through the Department of Motor Vehicles.  Some of the features of this program is to help you with towing service, answer questions, and get a quote.

  1. How can a find out more information about this service?

  1. What if I don't have the vehicle title in my name?

Answer:  Virginia law requires a vehicle title to be in the person's name.  Cycle Systems cannot legally purchase the vehicle without having the proper documents; however we can offer our service of running the VIN through the DMV records to obtain clearance to legally allow us to purchase the vehicle.  This report gives us the clearance to purchase the vehicle using the VSA 40 form.  This would save you time and the hassle of going to the DMV yourself to obtain the proper documents in order to legally recycle the vehicle.

 
  1. What do I need to do if I bring the vehicle in and then realize I can’t find the title?

Answer:  No problem, just allow Cycle Systems to run a report through DMV that will allow us to make sure the title is clean for Cycle Systems to legally purchase your vehicle and we will save you the hassle of making a trip back home to search for it.

 

  1. Is there a fee for me to pay for Cycle Systems to process and if so how much?

Answer:  No cost, Cycle Systems is paying the price to run the report to make it easier for the customer to recycle their vehicle.

  1. If there is a joint ownership of vehicle does my spouse need to sign also?  Circumstances if estranged?

Answer:  Yes

  1. Is a death certificate required if previous owner of the vehicle is deceased?

Answer:  Please call our call center for information concerning this question.  800-542-7000.

  1. What if I can't locate the VIN # on the vehicle?

Answer: You would need some type of document that describes the vehicle such as an inspection receipt, registration, insurance card, etc...

  1. Does Cycle Systems report the sale of vehicle to the city or county for property taxes?

Answer:  No, once Cycle Systems reports this information to the DMV that the vehicle has been crushed, DMV will report it to the city or county.

  1. What if I have an abandon vehicle on my property that does not have a title?

Answer:  Any vehicle with a model year that is less than 10 years old, for which you have no ownership documents must be processed using DMV’s on line AVP process. Compliance with the requirements of the AVP process protects the ownership rights of Virginia residents and lienholders in the event a record exists for the vehicle. If the vehicle is 10 years or older you can fill out the VSA 40 required sections and bring that form with you to Cycle Systems so we can run that VIN through the DMV system for you at no cost to you.
